Our client is a US multinational group with operations in over 90 countries. The business currently has a vacancy for a Southern Europe International Tax Manager. This position has responsibility for tax reporting and planning for the group's operations in designated territories of Southern Europe/Mediterranean as defined by Region Team Leader.
The successful candidate will have frequent contact with the worldwide corporate tax group, regional finance and operational personnel, internal audit, the corporate legal group and other corporate departments. In addition, the International Tax Manager will interact with external parties including tax authorities and professional advisors.
Responsibilities:
* Quarterly calculation of tax provision under US GAAP FAS 109
* Quarterly review of tax account balances in statutory and GAAP ledgers.
* Liaise with finance personnel as needed to ensure accuracy of account balances.
* Quarterly documentation of uncertain tax positions under US FIN48.
* Annual review and approval of tax notes disclosed in the local statutory accounts, tax returns, including true up to provision.
* Managing the tax calendar for Southern Europe especially ensuring that all Corporate Income Tax payments in the designated territories are settled on time.
* Management of Tax audits including field work and follow up.
* Conducting or participating in due diligence review of acquisitions.
* Contract reviews as arise to ensure compliance / tax efficiency / entity efficiency.
* Quarterly updates with region finance / operation personnel to identify & remediate tax exposures and maximize efficiencies. Requires thorough understanding of local laws and company ability to produce information.
* Regular travel to designated territories as approved by Region Team Leader.
* Maintenance of appropriate documentation for US and foreign tax credit purposes.
* Management of professional fee budgets / activities.
* Travel required for this position may range from 15%-30% depending on the activities in the jurisdiction.
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent
* Public Accounting qualification preferred
* Previous experience in a similar role within industry preferred
* Good communication skills
* Language skills in French a pre-requisite for this opportunity
